ABOUT
Although Kevin also has a small home recording studio it's studio VilmingThon that rules the mix. It started back in 2000 with a cheap shop microphone, but then gradually and after subscribing to Sound on Sound for a few years, Stian's living room transformed into a studio with a impressive amount of gear and a ridiculous number of plugins.
Stian himself has become a pretty fine "hobby" mix/master engineer.
We noticed a difference in the quality of the mixes when we started listeníng to what was needed, instead of turning knobs to see what could happen. Also how to fine tune the song elements with the correct amount and type of reverb, an aspect we are still trying to master.
We hope nobody gets hold of Kevins first song (produced by Kevin) "A fine Place" for a mix analysis!
THE DAW
Stian has been an avid Cubase user since Sx 3.0. We are now on version 9 running on a Mac with a Motu 896 mk3. Listing all the purchased plugs would be rather depressing, so here's a list over the essentials, and what we have used so far on "Monsters and Friends" :

RECORDING BOOTH
We have spent ALOT of time in this little corner.. All the vocals and guitars are recorded here, memorable and not so memorable sessions include "The Red Wine Sessions", "The White Wine Sessions", "The Coffee Sessions", "The Nøgne Ø Sessions" and the "Stian falls asleep Session". Notice the Tandberg TD 20A tape recorder and Tandberg 3034 Cassette Deck. We haven't used it yet on SLOW's stuff - but it looks cool.
